How do I prepare for the GED Test?

GED preparatory classes are held in Woodside during the day and evening. Classes are also available in Milford, Delaware (Christ Episcopal Church).


What is the GED Program?

The GED Testing Program is a branch of the James H. Groves Adult High School that provides a means of earning a certificate through testing.  This state document is not a high school diploma, but is recognized by the State Board of Education for the purposes of employment, licensing, and admission to most post high school educational institutions.

Students are encouraged to enroll in the GED program early in the year. There is no charge for tuition, but there is a $40.00 per semester non-refundable materials fee.


What is the GED Test?

Student in a classroom - Polytech - Adult EducationThe GED Test consists of five individual tests in the areas of Writing Skills, Social Studies, Science, Mathematics, and Interpreting Literature and the Arts.

The test provides a method of measuring the educational achievement of adults who have not completed a formal high school diploma program, but have acquired comparable education throughout their life's experiences.

Costs

All GED students are required to successfully complete the Official Practice Test (OPT) prior to taking the GED Test.  The cost of the OPT is $35.00.  The cost of the GED Test is $75.00
