The Automotive Technician program is designed to prepare students to work in the local automotive industry. Students receive 238 hours of classroom and hands-on instruction in the Polytech automotive classroom and shop and complete 248 hours of internship with a local automotive employer. Job placement services are available.
ASE Training Courses

Prerequisite: ASE G1 certification or equivalent experience.
A6 Electrical/Electronic Systems*
The A6 Electrical/Electronic Systems course is designed to train students to perform maintenance on automotive electrical and electronic systems. The course addresses the diagnosis and repair of general electrical, starting, charging, instrument, and body electrical systems. This course satisfies one of the four required courses for the Automotive Technician Specialist – Tech C Apprenticeship Program.

A5 Automotive Brakes*
The A5 Automotive Brakes course is designed to train students to perform maintenance on automotive brake systems. The course addresses the diagnosis and repair of hydraulic, power assist, and parking brake systems, disc and drum brakes, and electronic brake control systems. This course satisfies one of the four required courses for the Automotive Technician Specialist – Tech C Apprenticeship program.

NEWT5 (Diesel) Susupension & Steering
The T5 Suspension & Steering course is one of four courses required to complete the Diesel Technician – Tech C Apprenticeship program. Subjects covered include diagnosis and repair of steering systems, suspensions, frames, and 5th wheels, wheel alignment diagnosis, adjustment, and repair, and wheels, tires , and hubs.
PLEASE NOTE: Classes will be held at the Perdue Farms garage in Georgetown, but are open to all apprentice students.

Small Engine Repair
Bring your small engine questions! This course provides a combination of classroom and hands-on training in the basic principles and concepts of small 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines. Emphasis will be places on preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, service procedures and basic tune-ups.
